We finally made it to Via this week and it was nice treat. The greatest thing about Via is it’s atmosphere. We sat outside on the terrace. They have a row of couch and table set-ups that were vey comfortable and relaxing. For the price, the food was good not great, though we would definately make a return trip. Once again, for Via, it’s all about the atmosphere.

Shrewsbury Street in Worcester is getting a great makeover. There are restuarants popping up all over and most of them have out door seating.

John Stone’s in Ashland used to be one of my favorite places. They have a great outdoor section with big tables and umbrellas. They used to have a great beer selection. If you stuck with the burgers and sandwiches, their food was pretty good. NO MORE! Now, the food is worse, the beer is flat, and it’s more expensive. I don’t think I will be visiting for awhile. I suggest to go across the street to Catch 22. At least the beer is good and you can still sit outside.

Waltham, Massachusetts. Have you seen it lately? I counted at least 2 places to sit outside and enjoy a nice dinner or cocktail. There is also a Tapas place that looks like it was moved from Newbury Street. Here is a picture from Margarita’s. It has a great view of the river Charles.

What is with America. Are we a country that moves too fast? Do we not care about relaxation or taking a few minutes a day to watch the world go by. Go to any city in Europe (and probably other parts of the world) and the streets are filled with cafes. Big ones, small ones, on every corner, on every block, there is a establishement with tables, chairs, and umbrellas. They are in the big cities and small towns. Go down any street in America’s big cities or small towns, nothing. Why!?! Someone please tell me.
